News: Fans queue for hours to meet Amy Childs in Plymouth

Reality TV star Amy Childs met fans who had queued for hours when she signed autographs at Drake Circus in Plymouth today – and was also faced with tough questions.

Among those at the event was city man Matt Warne, who quizzed The Only Way Is Essex star for her thoughts on North Korea’s threats to the west.

The 22-year-old former star of TOWIE – making a personal appearance at Drake Circus’ Bank store – said she had no idea what Matt was talking about.
Matt, 20, queued with pals to meet the glamorous star.
He said: “I’m basically here to ask her what her tips are for the Grand National.
“I’m also going to ask her if she feels threatened by Kim Jong Un and the nuclear threat.
“I’m not expecting a very interesting answer to be honest. But if she blows my mind I’ll propose to her there and then.”

Plymstock lad Matt, wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with a scantily clad picture of Amy, added: “We’re all TOWIE fans and watched the first few series’ but it’s gone downhill since Amy left.”
After putting his questions to the Essex girl, Matt said: “She didn’t have a clue, literally not a clue.
“When I asked for her tips, she said ‘I dunno, what’s your tip?’
“Then when I asked ‘do you feel threatened by Kim Jong Un?’ she didn’t have a clue. She looked at her bouncer like ‘what’s he talking about?’”
Scores of reality TV fans queued since 5am to catch a glimpse of the TV personality turned designer and businesswoman.
Flanked by around a dozen security guards, gorgeous Amy signed autographs and posed for photos with hundreds of adoring fans.

She was in the city to launch her new range of dresses – but didn’t wait long to soak up the sites.
She arrived in Plymouth on Friday night then dashed back to Essex from Drake Circus on Saturday afternoon.
Superfans Caitlin Melville, 16, and her mum Tam, 44, from Paignton, met Amy for the fifth time.
Tam explained: “It was worth queuing for. We’ve got a house in Essex as well so we go to her shop all time.
“She knows us by now and she recognised us straight away.
“We’re big fans of The Only Way is Essex.

“She told us her boutique is missing us and asked when we were heading back so that she can make sure she’s there.”
Caitlin added: “We’re like BFFs (Best Friends Forever), she follows me on Twitter too.”
Super glamorous Charlene Rose, Theresa Penfold and Jodie Cooper got up at 7am to start getting ready to meet Amy.
Theresa said: “It was really nice to see her. I heard about her appearance when I read it in The Herald while I was at my mother-in-laws for a cuppa.
“I like watching TOWIE to see what they all wearing. They are all so glamorous, it inspires you to get up and make a bit of an effort.”

Charlene added: “She’s so nice isn’t she? We just asked her how long she’s in Plymouth for and when she got here.
“It was definitely worth queuing for.”
Greg Lumley, central director of Drake Circus, said: “We’ve had a great reaction from the public. We’ve had people queuing from 5am and so it’s been exceptional.
“We’re really pleased to see Bank open and Amy come down to support it.
“It’s great to see a celebrity like Amy come to Plymouth. Anything that helps put Plymouth on the map can only be a good thing.

“We hope that she is one of a few more to visit us in the near future.”
Following the personal appearence, Amy told The Herald: “I came down here last night but I’ve got to head back to my business in Essex today.
“I will be coming back to take time to see more of the city though, but at the moment it’s all go.”
Fans had queued from 5am for a chance to meet the celebrity fashion designer.
Amy Childs rose to fame after appearing in the first two series of the ITV2 series The Only Way Is Essex and came in fourth place in Celebrity Big Brother 8 in 2011.

As well as her fashion range, Amy has a fragrance, her own range of eyelashes, a beauty and tanning range, a chart-topping fitness DVD and a best-selling calendar.
She had her own TV series in 2011, modeled for Bra Queen made by Ultimo available in 2011 exclusively at Tesco and models for other brands including Topshop.

The Only Way is Essex is a BAFTA award-winning reality television show based in Essex.
It shows “real people in modified situations, saying unscripted lines but in a structured way.”

News: Amy Childs: TOWIE is running out of storylines, it’s boring

Amy Childs has come under fire from her former TOWIE castmates during the last few weeks after she gave her opinion about the show.

So when we met Amy Childs at our #myomgface event, we had to get her take on the whole situation.
Amy told us: “I was just giving my opinion. The thing is with TOWIE, is how many storylines can happen? How many times can you cheat on someone? It’s got too samey samey and in the end people get bored of that.”

She continued: “When me and Harry was on it I never bitched about anyone. I just had fun and was myself. I just said it’s lost the fun side.”

Her cousin Harry Derbidge agreed. He said: “I think the whole Mario and Lucy thing kind of reminds me of the whole Mark and Lauren thing because before when Mark and Lauren was in the show, it was: ‘Oh how long will this go on for? How many times will they break up and get back together?’
He continued: “Since Mark left it was all about Lucy and Mario’s relationship which is great TV but, as Amy says, how much can you watch of: ‘Oh let’s not get married, let’s get back together, let’s not get back together.”
Amy Childs concluded: “It wasn’t me being horrible. It was just me having an opinion. Me and Harry are entitled to our opinion.”
Amy and Harry were chatting to us at the launch of our #myomgface competition to win £3k of ASOS vouchers.

News: Amy Childs: TOWIE producers told me I could never return to show

The reality star and beautician – who left The Only Way Is Essex last year to take part in Celebrity Big Brother – opened up about the details of her departure following the news that Lauren Goodger, who has also quit the show, was told she would be free to return at any time.

‘I was really shocked to hear that the TOWIE producers have decided to let anyone who leaves the show, including Lauren Goodger, back in the future,’ she said in her column for showbiz magazine New.

‘When I left to appear in Celebrity Big Brother, they told me I could never go back but it appears the rules have changed.
‘I loved being a part of TOWIE but don’t regret leaving when I did,’ Childs added. ‘Still, it would have been nice to have been given the option to go back if I wanted to.’
Goodger recently made her final appearance on the show amid rumours she will be a contestant in the next series of Dancing On Ice.

Meanwhile, reports suggest up to four people could be axed from the next series in a shake-up of cast members – with Chloe Sims and Lydia Bright among those tipped for the chop.
‘Lydia Bright could be the first big-name casualty, as she’s becoming more interested in her own shop and clothing line,’ a source told Heat magazine.
‘Another could be Chloe Sims. She didn’t find the last series exciting.’
Tom Pearce and Cara Kilbey are also rumoured to be in the firing line ahead of the next series, which will begin on ITV2 in the autumn.
